Over the past 12 months, more than 1600 school districts in the U.S. have chosen GoGuardian for their security and content filtering needs. This growth is unprecedented and extremely telling of our customers’ experiences. However, it’s not without its own difficulties. Namely, we now process 35+ MILLION events per day. And that number is expected to increase tenfold in the next year.
Our team has been hard at work enhancing the very core of our product. A lot of these changes aren’t visible, so I wanted to let you know you about what we’ve worked on over the past 6 weeks.
What does this mean for GoGuardian?
We have implemented a new core infrastructure that allows us to scale more effectively to meet growing demand. Our application has migrated from a single-page application “one-stop-shop” to a lean, mean, scaling machine.
The changes that allow us to meet our goal of 99.9% uptime include:
° New event queue that prevents a surge in events from overloading our servers ° New API layer that more securely and reliably handles data connections ° New micro-service infrastructure that decouples our back-end and front-end logic more efficiently
What does this mean for you as an IT admin?
These infrastructure changes ensure that if something breaks (i.e. dashboard is unavailable), your students are still protected.
We hold ourselves to an extremely high standard. As such, we’ve setup a page at http://status.goguardian.com to ensure that you are always aware of how reliably our application is handling your students’ data.
This transparency is our way of saying that we recognize the amount of trust you place in us and we do not take that lightly. We love serving your school needs and appreciate the opportunity you’ve given us to do so.
Have a great summer and we’ll see you next school year!
