Aza and Advait cutting the ribbon at GoGuardian's office move-in, July 2016.
As we enter the new school year, when GoGuardian will be serving more students and educators than ever before, I am excited to announce our decision to appoint Advait Shinde, GoGuardian’s co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer, my successor as CEO of GoGuardian. We share a powerful vision to help all children realize their potential by enabling educators to understand and engage students at the highest level. Advait’s proven ability to champion that vision will propel GoGuardian into its next chapter of growth and technological advancement.
In the three short years that GoGuardian has existed, our team has grown from just 2 engineers to more than 90 employees. We now serve over 4 million students, 120,000 educators, and 2,400 schools across all 50 US states--including in 35 of the largest 100 school districts nationwide. This was due in no small part to Advait’s oversight of our vision and technology.
Since leaving his position as a software engineer at Google to help launch GoGuardian, Advait’s contributions have been instrumental in our ability to provide innovative solutions for our growing list of customers. Advait was featured on the 2016 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for education, and was a finalist for CTO of the Year in the Los Angeles Business Journal this year. Previously, Advait served on the Google Wallet team. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from my own alma mater, UCLA.
As CEO, Advait's leadership, technical knowledge, and passion for education will help ensure that GoGuardian continues to deliver on its promise to empower educators and optimize learning. My own commitment to GoGuardian's success is as steadfast as it was when Advait and I started this company together. After taking a long-overdue break, I’m looking forward to returning to GoGuardian in a capacity that will best serve our team and customers.
I am excited to see what Advait brings to the table as we continue partnering with the entire education community to unlock student potential throughout the rest of 2017 and beyond.
